Thinking - A terrible power that each of us!

Lateral thinking and reasoning. If successful, the result is an elegant solution to a seemingly unsolvable problem. The answer is rarely reached with the developed logical step-by-step traditional or pedantic. Each of us has drawn our genius from time to time to apply lateral thinking to a problem or magically personal mystery. Lateral thinking, like all skills can be improved significantly with practice and understanding.

Here are threeExamples of lateral thinking in action. Let's see how it goes?

There is a story of a man who was imprisoned, probably aware that his mail has been carefully screened by the authorities was. He and his wife met regularly. In one of her letters to him, he wrote that he would start planting the garden, but he could not work the rotor-tiller. He said the ground was rock hard and without a car, it would be very difficult to fix to the floor with oneSwords.

In its reply, the man wrote, "Good God Woman, not all plants in the garden, where I hid the money and weapons!"

Within a week or so prisoners received a letter from his wife, saying that a dozen police officers descended on the house and dug the garden. ". I do not know what you are looking for, but did not find anything about, she asked:" What were they looking for? "

You can use the solution to the genius husband jailedused to help his wife?

The man replied, "false alarm, nothing to worry about Oh and by the way, I think the garden should be ready for planting."

This is an example of lateral thinking!

Here's another.

A young farmer and a princess were in love, and of course the young man wanted to marry her. The king liked the idea of marrying the daughter of a farmer, but he wanted to appear right in front of his subjects. The king announced to his court, who read two pieces of paper in a hat, reading, exile and another marriage, and the young farmer was one of the pieces of paper to draw and had to be made by the embassy.

Later that day the farmer heard the king saying that both pieces of paper would read exile, will ensure that the poor always Popper would have been banned. The peasant remained undaunted and, as agreed, has reached the King's court, where a large crowdgathered for the event. The farmer reached into the hat and pulled one of the paper. He did something that assured him the hand of the princess. What has he done?

The solution to this problem requires lateral thinking confusion. That is, the non-linear thinking.

In lateral thinking, the solution is often so elegant, so perfect as to defy any further discussion. So what could possibly make this farmer as such a response would be to qualify?

Linear thinkingmight suggest;
• fall the farmer's daughter by the hand and make a run for it.
• Or perhaps the farmer could tell the court that has heard that the king is the piece of paper would read exile.
• Maybe he could appeal to the king's daughter to the father who exposed cheating.
• You can also try to select both pieces of paper and proposes the king made a mistake.

Each of these solutions has a number of problems that arise, and certainlynone of them would have called our "elegant engineering" to qualify the description of lateral thinking.

Here are some tips to help you along.

One suggestion - The young farmer knew that the king, those seem to show in front of her and did not dare to expose him.

Tip Two - The farmer was smart enough to manipulate the magazine chose his desire, and maintaining the integrity of the king.

Can you guess what the farmerdid he do?

The farmer picked up a paper and tore it. Then he asked the king to give him another piece of paper that said, of course, in exile. The king, not wanting to seem fraudulent before his subjects, had to admit that the paper had been read to say the farmer to have the wedding.

The solution is very elegant, is not it? The peasant and the king's daughter to meet their own desires, while the farmer was anxiousMaintaining the integrity of the king before his subjects. In fact, the king would be more likely to begin his new son-in-law in a new light to see, and probably one that deserves, in fact, was the hand of his daughter.

Here's another example of lateral thinking!

This example strikes closer to home (at least for me) because it is a true story that happened to a dear friend.

Greg has been an independent consultant (read headhunter) for a number of Fortune 500 companies. While driving along a Los Angeles freeway one day was lost in thought, as he has become a particularly difficult problem. He had exhausted his Rolodex, and he had knocked on every contact he knew, but he just could not get any good leads on the "man" needs to get out.

About a week before one of his best customers, a large pharmaceutical company, had asked him to find someone with the following characteristics - male, African-Americans, aged between 25 and thirty-five years, Universityeducated with at least a bachelor's degree in science and, ideally, one that was loaded with personality. When Greg turned the problem over for the hundredth time, it was quickly back into reality when his car was sputtering and brought out of gas.

He moved to the side of the road and wanted to call the service road when a guy driving in driver pulled over and offered his help. This African-American boy at random, seems to be about 30 years. As it turned out,Greg accepted a lift to the nearest service station. During the journey, the young man mentioned that he worked in the area and was on his way back to the office of his lunch break. When he arrived at the gas station and Greg thanked the kind Samaritan for his efforts.

The young man just walked away when he knew that Greg had forgotten to ask his name or where he worked. Then it hit. Suddenly it was with this wonderfully delicious "aha" lateral thinking and suggestedingenious solution to his problem.

Later that day Greg in the parking lot of a competitor that has tried to recruit for flights.

Greg went to see at the front desk and explained that he had given only limited support and very generous by a passing motorist. "The Good Samaritan told me that his name and for the life of me I can not remember it. That was the only thing I remember, where he worked. I'd really like him as a small token gift as a thank youI do not remember his name. "

Well, of course, the reception was more than happy to help, but she confessed that she employs well over a thousand people and was very probably would not know who that person was. Now Greg replied: "I think it was an African-American, between 25 and 35 years, real friendly and outgoing, and spoke as someone who was very well behaved."

The Secretary was pleased to say that they knew several people who would fit that description. "Let methink for a moment, "he said," George was so-so, "he asked." No, "said Greg, making a mental note of the name:" I do not think it was him. "" Well, how about Jason so and so? "" No, that does not ring a bell, or, "said Greg a 'further note of the name. He thought a moment and then said that both Bill and Randy was so so and so and so! "Well Greg said he thought it was very likely that Randy. Greg thanked the host for their help, and he was inhis way.

Within a week, Greg gave a telephone interview with all four names of the receipt of them, recruited him and made his man.

This is thinking outside!
